- It is a happening of a recent Friday night in Lowell, Mass., just outside Boston, the state police were out there to look out any drunken drivers.
Officers regularly stop drivers and ask them that have they drunk tonight. They also ask some drivers to take sobriety tests; they have also arrested some of those drivers for Driving Under the Influence of alcohol.
It has been said by the Law enforcement officers that are working here and across the U.S. that they have noticed a disturbing new trend and that according to them is that more of those that that they have arrested for DUI are women.
A surge in the number of women abusing alcohol have been shown by a wave of new studies. According to government statistics, 39% of young women are now engaged in binge drinking, since 1979 this rate has been increased 30%.
And despite groups such as Mothers Against Drunk Driving, more women who are engage in drinking are getting behind the wheel.
