- The rate of casualties during road accidents is on the rise. The main reason behind such alarming death rate is drunk driving.
According to reports released by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Morbidity and Mortality, motor vehicle crashes have now become the leading cause behind rising death rate in Unites States.
All measures taken at government level, severe penalties, public awareness and heavy crackdown from law enforcement agencies are not proving enough for keep people from getting behind the wheel while intoxicated.
According to an estimate in United States, about 40% of accidents are the outcome of alcohol consumption. The more you consume alcohol the more your chances to have a crash. If a driver is showing 0.10 or more blood alcohol concentration, the chances for his clash increases seven time; while in case of 0.15 or more BAC the chances for accident can reach up to 25 times more than a sober driver.
Taking two beers within an hour can raise the level of BAC in a 160-pound person up to 0.04, other two drinks will raise it up to 0.08, and another two will make it more and so on. Along with the increase in BAC, the likelihood of road crashes increases as well.
So keep all these statistics in mind while you are going to have a weekend party at your home or somewhere else. Arrange a sober driver for car or an operator for your boat too before starting enjoying the party.
