« Fatal DUI Accident – Two men killed
On early Saturday, two men were killed in an accident. At that time they were riding in the Ford Mustang which suddenly ran off the road on I-395 and crashed into a tree.
It has been said by the state police that when the accident happened at 3:15 a.m. Jeremy Dubois, 25, of Jewett City, was driving south on the interstate, near Exit 88.

His passenger, Michael Batchek, 26, of Voluntown, died on the spot. Whereas Dubois was taken to Backus Hospital in Norwich, where he was pronounced dead.
Preliminary accident report
It is stated in a preliminary accident report that the air bags in the 2002 vehicle had not deployed. According to the report Batchek was not wearing a seat belt. But Dubois was wearing one.
The deadly crash has been counted as the fourth of the holiday weekend in areas that are being patrolled by the state police. Lisbon, Hartland and Oxford are the others areas where the accidents occurred. A state police spokesman Lt. J. Paul Vance told that as of Saturday morning, 25 accidents resulted in injuries, and 218 accidents had been investigated.
Moreover Vance said that law enforcement efforts have been intensified by the troopers since midnight Wednesday, having 43 arrests for suspicion of DUI, 810 speeding citations and 399 seat belt violations.
