In Connecticut the State Liquor Control Commission is having authority to fine or suspend the liquor license of bars and restaurants on the basis of their connection to DUI suspects. When law enforcement officials arrest a DUI suspect they often record the bar or restaurant that served those arrested for suspicion of a DUI offense.

Journalists in investigated the follow up of the bars and restaurants recently in Connecticut, and they find out that police did not submitted a single establishments information to the Liquor Control Commission in the several months of a crackdown, afterward for weeks also they haven’t provided any information to commission.

The crackdown was done because of reckless DUI related accidents and deaths in Northeast Connecticut, along the interstate highway police increased patrols to catch more drunk drivers so that alcohol related accidents, injuries and fatalities could be decreased.

During weekends extra patrolling was done aside from scheduled patrolling, this extra effort led to more than 80 arrests. After arresting the suspects the officers routinely asked them that where they had consumed alcoholic drinks and gathered information was noted in a standard form.

That crack down was occurred in the spring of this year. Investigation about that shown that officers were not following up with the establishments in the question after making an arrest even though they collected the necessary information.

DUI arrests told the police where he/she drank, and then it was duty of police to forward that information to liquor commission along the police report but they haven’t. For that a police spokesperson said that police surely follow up with the restaurants or bars that come in notice during the course of arrest, but context and details of the particular incident don’t determine the implementation and nature of the investigation.

Whatever it will be but responsibility of bars and restaurants do count for that in DUI cases but the police in Northeast Connecticut is not following that path which involves the Liquor Control Commission.
