« Under new DWI law NY man is the first to get sentenced

It has been said by the prosecutors that a Staten Island man is the first person who has been sentenced under a new state law. law2

This law requires people convicted of drunken driving felonies to pass a breath test every time when they start their car.

On Friday Bernardo Gonzalez pleaded guilty to a DWI offense.

Under a law that took effect on the same day, he will require to install a device in his car which is known as an ignition interlock.

Drivers having  the devices have to blow into the machine whenever they want to start the car.

If they are having alcohol on their breath, then the engine stays off and automatically the police would be notified.

The judge has also given Gonzalez 60 days in jail.
