Some students helped to pull over the driver for the test. Students from Carrick learned a real life lesson on their field trip to the Carnegie Science Center.
Some of the students told that the driver seemed a little out of sorts on the way there. After 3 hours when they were heading back to home they knew that there is something wrong.
Christian Blanitzer a student told that when they got back on the bus after the field trip they smelled alcohol and the driver was swerving even more and acting very paranoid. The students said that the driver smelled like alcohol and was having trouble to keep the bus on the road.
That’s the chaperones called the police and they made a plan to get him to pull over.
Blanitzer said that we had one of our students fake a panic attack so that we can pull him to stop the bus to get that panic student some air, when bus stopped within 20 seconds police arrived and took the driver from there.
Police that the driver, Ryan Dunlop refused for a field sobriety test. That’s why he was taken to the hospital for blood alcohol test there he claimed that he haven’t done anything wrong.
Because of this incident parents were worried so much and they have to drive to the South Side to pick up their kids. Dunlop told that he had been driving school bus from last 10 years. Only now he has been charged for DUI, reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of children.
