« Senate Majority Leader Sheldon Killpack Arrested Under DUI
The Senate majority leader Sheldon Killpack was arrested early Friday for investigation of DUI.

The Republican from Syracuse said in a statement released by the Senate, “ I am deeply sorry for the impact this incident will have on those who support and trust me-my colleagues in the Senate, my constituents and, most importantly my family, I am a firm believer in responsibility and personal accountability, an am prepared to accept all personal, legal and political consequences for my actions.”
There is a provision in the Utah State Constitution which contains a provision granting lawmakers “privilege from arrest” during legislative session as well as 15 days before and after, “ in all cases except treason, felony or breach of the peace.” While 2010 Legislature will begin on Jan. 25.
Killpack’s attorney, Ed Brass and co-counsel Kim Cordova were told by Killpack that he wont take advantage of that provision and will go through the process same like other citizen. Ed Brass said that as his lawyers we have different opinion and that we will discuss in the future.
