Every half an hour DUI accidents cause one death and injure a person in every couple of minutes across United States. Biggest reason behind the criminal deaths across the country is Driving Under the Influence (DUI).
Figures show that every year almost 17,000 people become victims of individuals driving under the influence or alcohol or narcotics and die every year. Sad part is that out of these 17,000 almost 2,000 of them are children. Approximately 1.5 million drivers are arrested every year across USA for DUI. Interestingly, this figure is less than 1% of the actual DUI instances while in reality more than 160 million DUI incidents take place every year across the country.
More than 400 children die every year by vehicles driven by drunk drivers. Over 40% deaths are caused by motor accidents due to of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Almost 50 pedestrian children are killed by the DUI drivers.
According to a survey over 75% of the DUI accused individuals are male. Over 50% DUI related accidents and deaths take place on weekends, especially on Saturdays. Most of accidents and fatalities occur between midnight and 4am in morning. DUI drivers cause loss more than $60 billion property every year.
