- Alcohol treatment programs are much less successful if the family is also not involved in the process. Most of the times, the family is involved throughout the treatment program, right from the time when the addict is convinced that he or she needs treatment, to the decision about whether to have strawberry punch or something else for the homecoming party.
The family is also responsible for the entire patient-treatment chain of events, starting from maintenance medication and keeping a constant check on the patient’s condition.
Different people chose different programs according to their desire. Some people prefer an outpatient alcoholism treatment program as they do not want the cost and inconvenience of being away from home for two or more weeks. Whereas, others wish to keep working, and so need an alcoholism treatment program that will fit around their schedule.

300,000 Repeat DUI Offenders? Time to Act »
The figures have clearly shown that no doubt, California has a major drunken driving problem. Up till now, more than 300,000 drivers in the state have had three or more DUI convictions, whereas more than 40,000 have had five.
The numbers are truly devastating. In 2007, drunk drivers in California were involved in 53,261 accidents that killed about1,501 Californians, not to mention the endless injuries.
According to the Assemblyman Mike Feuer, D-Los Angeles, the huge numbers can be reduced by installing ignition interlock devices on vehicles that are owned or operated by people convicted of drunken driving. This way, the car won’t start until the driver blows into the device and is found to be clear.
