Extra DUI Patrols on Cinco de Mayo Festival »
Law enforcement agencies has made extra patrolling plan for drunken drivers who will drive through Sonoma County on Wednesday for Cinco de Mayo festival. Nearly 13 law enforcement agencies will take part in this extra patrolling for checking the impaired drivers. ![]()
According to police officer Savano, extra police officers will take part and do the over time to make the extra patrol possible so that it will become easy to check more driver for drunk driving during May 5th festivities. Country sheriff and deputies will do their duty on highway and country roads while the police office will take charge of city roads.
Beside the dui check points and patrolling local NGOs and society groups do the extra effort to convince the drivers for not driving drunk. Click here to read more »

Teen Charged For DUI After Crashing Car Into a Home »
A 17 years old teen was arrested for crashing car into a Washington Road House in late December. The teen driver who is Cromwell resident was arrested this week and was charged with drunken driving under the age of 21 years and reckless driving.

Police haven’t given the name of young man because of his age, they told that he was under the influence of alcohol and unspecified drugs also at the time when he crashed the vehicle into the house on the night of Dec. 29.
He was driving 1999 model four door Cadillac Coupe de Ville and was moving north on Washington Road when he lost the control on the car and crashed that into a home at 11:08 p.m.

300,000 Repeat DUI Offenders? Time to Act »
The figures have clearly shown that no doubt, California has a major drunken driving problem. Up till now, more than 300,000 drivers in the state have had three or more DUI convictions, whereas more than 40,000 have had five.
The numbers are truly devastating. In 2007, drunk drivers in California were involved in 53,261 accidents that killed about1,501 Californians, not to mention the endless injuries.
According to the Assemblyman Mike Feuer, D-Los Angeles, the huge numbers can be reduced by installing ignition interlock devices on vehicles that are owned or operated by people convicted of drunken driving. This way, the car won’t start until the driver blows into the device and is found to be clear.

The Difference Between DUI and DWI? »
Ever wondered that what is the difference between DUI and DWI? Basically, they both are the same. DUI stands for driving under the influence, whereas DWI means driving while intoxicated.

Depending upon the state law, the two terms are used interchangeably in order to describe impaired or drunken driving. Some state laws may refer to it as DUI while others call it DWI.
Nevertheless, some states where both terms are used, DWI is usually referred to driving while intoxicated of alcohol, whereas DUI is used in cases when the driver is charged with being under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
